Candidates Of Ebba
Candidates Of Ebba

Candidates Of Ebba consists of Mads-Emil Hammer (production and vocals), William Høst (production), and Ebba Roberta Andersson (vocals). Together they have managed to craft an original, soulful and thoughtful pop sound, drawing inspiration from genres such as R&B and ambient.

The predominantly laid-back, minimalist production is complemented by Ebba Roberta Andersson’s crystal-clear Danish vocals, which explore themes of youthful longing, fascination, and vulnerability in an immediate, personal language.

The album features ten tracks, five of which have already been released as singles.

Mads-Emil, William, and Ebba Roberta share a few words about the album in the Q&A below:

How would you describe the sound of the album?

The sonic universe lies somewhere between soul, R&B, electronic, and the more experimental. We’ve pulled elements from all kinds of genres, but our music is definitely inspired by artists like Air, Vera, Everything But The Girl, and Rejjie Snow.

What themes do you explore in your lyrics?

The central theme is definitely love—its frustrations and endings. Much of the lyrical universe stems from personal experiences from all three of us. But when we write, we often end up in a place that isn’t directly tied to specific events, where the words just come naturally.

How did Candidates of Ebba come about?

Mads sent some demos to William and asked if he wanted to produce something together. Once we had a solid starting point, we sent a few tracks to Roberta—and she responded with a video recording that was incredibly cool. We realized that we collaborated really well and understood each other’s visions and ideas, and, most importantly, were open to each other’s input. That’s what created our sound and the variety of songs with relatable themes, which is very important to us.

How does it feel to release your debut album?

It feels amazing to release our first album, and at the same time, it’s quite calm and low-key. We don’t have any big, wild plans—we just love making music together and hope to find some success with it.
